About LPV
Living Positive Victoria (LPV) has been supporting people living with HIV in Victoria since 1988. We are a peer-led, community-governed organisation, the people we exist for are also the people who shape and lead our work. We believe lived experience is expertise, and we put that into practice every day.
About the role
LPV’s 2026 member survey provided some great insight: over half of people ageing with HIV lack confidence navigating aged care, and a third lack confidence navigating mental health services. Many want support available when they actively need it, not only through ongoing programs. This role exists to respond to that.
This is a hands-on, one-to-one advocacy role. You will walk alongside people aged 50+ living with HIV as they navigate specific, often difficult systems, aged care, health, and social support, providing care planning, referrals and follow-up, with a particular focus on people facing higher complexity or barriers to care. You will also deliver health information workshops, facilitate peer connection activities, build stakeholder relationships, our knowledge of aged care services, and travel to regional Victoria to run sessions and build local relationships.
This role sits alongside LPV’s Peer Health Promotion Officer (Ageing with HIV) as part of a combined team effort for this cohort, with this role’s focus on individual advocacy and system navigation, and the Peer Health Promotion Officer’s focus on community engagement and program design. You’ll work closely together, sharing insight without duplicating effort.
At SCHADS Level 5.1 this role carries real professional autonomy. You will manage a mixed caseload of individual support, group facilitation and regional outreach, and contribute meaningfully to evaluation and funder reporting.
Who we’re looking for
We particularly encourage people living with HIV, especially those aged 50 and over, to apply. Your lived experience of ageing with HIV is central to this work, not incidental to it.
We are also looking for someone who:
- Has demonstrated experience providing one-to-one advocacy, care coordination or case navigation support to people with complex needs
- Understands peer-led practice and what distinguishes it from clinical case management
- Has a working knowledge of health, aged care and social support systems, or the ability to build this quickly
- Can build and sustain effective referral relationships with health and community service providers
- Can plan and facilitate group-based sessions, and apply evaluation frameworks to their work
- Thrives working with a degree of autonomy in a small, community-led team
