A Place To Call Home: Migrating with HIV

Do you want to stay in Australia? Do you want to meet another person living with HIV who has recently gone through the migration process?

Migrating and settling into another country for people like us (PLHIV) can be a stressful and lengthy pro-cess. Moving to this country may be filled with uncertainty and you’re not alone in feeling this.

Know that connecting with your positive community is just one of the various ways you can find support and learn from others on what you could to make this process easier for you.

For this virtual event, we’re connecting with Satrio Nindyo Istiko (Tiko) as he talks to us about his own ex-perience migrating from Indonesia and how he found his new home.

As this is a GenNext Event, this event is only open to anyone living with HIV in Australia under 30YO.

In this session, Tiko will talk to us about:

• How he’s navigated the immigration system in Australia;

• What different strategies he’s used to look after himself;

• What lessons that he’s learned along the way;

• And answer any questions that you may have.

Gen Next is a social group for young people living with HIV. We welcome people from all backgrounds in-clusive of all genders and sexualities. It’s a safe and confidential space where you can meet other young people 30 and under. We catch up regularly and talk about things like disclosure, sex and relationships or anything else at monthly discussion nights and events.
