Expressions of Interest: Multicultural People Living with HIV

Community Advisory and Participation Group

Living Positive Victoria is inviting multicultural people living with HIV to join a small Community Advisory and Participation Group for a new lived experience project focused on racism, HIV stigma, and culturally safe care.

Together, we will co-design and produce a short video learning resource for health and community workers. The videos will centre the voices, stories, and insights of multicultural people living with HIV in Australia, and explore what it means to feel safe, respected, and understood in care settings.

This project builds on LPV’s Multicultural Engagement Strategy, launched on 24 November 2025, and is supported by a Gilead Community Grant.

Why your involvement matters
Too often, racism, stigma, and cultural safety are discussed in abstract ways. What is missing is the lived experience of people who face these realities every day. By being part of this project, you can help ensure our stories are shared by us, not about us, and contribute to real change across services and systems.

What you will do
You may be invited to:

  • share ideas and lived experience in a small supportive group
  • help shape themes and messages for the videos
  • review early story outlines or draft scripts
  • keep consent, care and community ownership at the centre

You are not expected to represent anyone else. Your experiences are enough.

Time commitment and payment

  • 3 to 4 meetings between January and April 2026
  • 1 to 2 hours per meeting
  • $120 per meeting
  • flexible scheduling, with online options available

Support, privacy and choice
Your wellbeing comes first. You can choose how you participate, including joining without being recorded, using audio only, or not appearing in any recordings.

When we say multicultural, we are not only talking about migration. We mean people whose lives are shaped by more than one culture. This can include people born overseas, people with parents or families from other countries, people who speak more than one language, people who move between cultures in everyday life, and people who experience racism because of how they look, sound, or are treated. You do not need to be a recent migrant for this to apply to you.
