Yes, women get HIV too.

Saturday 9 March is the National Day of Women Living with HIV.

To mark this important day, we are honored to share NAPWHA’s  National Network of Women Living with HIV project, ‘Yes, women get HIV too’.

This project highlights the need for women, particularly those who are sexually active, to include an HIV test in their regular health check-ups.

Seven members of the network share their inspiring stories to shine a light on the range of women who find themselves HIV positive, and to inspire others to know their status so they too can lead healthy, positive lives.

Positive Women Victoria vice-chair, Jess, says “I never thought I’d get HIV, but I did. And if by talking about it, people end up going to their GP to get tested, then I’ve done my job as a woman living with HIV”.

Living Positive Victoria acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land where we work and live. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We celebrate the stories, culture and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders of all communities who also work and live on this land.
