The study was a joint project between the Australian Research Centre in Sex\, Health and Society (La Trobe University)\, Living Positive Victoria\, Transgender Victoria and Equinox (Thorne Harbour Health). Its findings and recommendations should be used to improve clinical and support services\, research\, and program development for trans and gender diverse people living with HIV. \nAbout the event\nOur launch event will report main findings from the study\, with a focus on: \n\nThe negotiation of gender and HIV status\nBarriers and enablers to positive and affirming clinical and social care\nSocial connection\, community and belonging\n\nIt will feature a presentation from Dr Percy Gurtler (report lead author) and panel discussion with lived experience and community partner members from the project advisory group\, moderated by Graham Brown. \nThis is a hybrid event\, and can be attended in-person at the La Trobe City Campus or on Zoom. SUMMARY:Polaroid\, Polaroid\, Polaroid
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the opening night of Polaroid Polaroid Polaroid\, a group exhibition presented by MARS Gallery in support of Living Positive Victoria. Inspired by the enduring appeal of the Polaroid\, the exhibition brings together artists\, curators\, and community members exploring themes of memory\, intimacy\, storytelling\, and connection through this iconic photographic medium. Alongside the exhibition\, works from artist Emil Canita’s polaroid series will be on display\, curated in accompaniment to LPV’s Let Them Know: Why and How to Share Your HIV Story resource with support from ViiV Healthcare. Proceeds from artwork sales and donations will support Living Positive Victoria’s peer-led programs and services for people living with HIV. \nPresented by MARS Gallery in support of Living Positive Victoria \n  \nOpening Event\nTuesday 23 June\, 6.00pm to 8.00pm \n  \nLiving Positive Victoria (LPV) is pleased to support and promote Polaroid Polaroid Polaroid\, a group exhibition presented by MARS Gallery that brings together a snapshot of the MARS community while raising funds for people living with HIV. \nInspired by Andy Warhol’s love of capturing the everyday with a Polaroid camera\, the exhibition invites artists\, curators\, and art enthusiasts to explore the Polaroid as both a photographic medium and an object open to personal interpretation. \nSince its introduction in 1948\, the Polaroid has become an iconic and accessible form of photography\, loved for its ability to transform fleeting moments into instant keepsakes. Polaroid Polaroid Polaroid celebrates this playful and democratic medium through a diverse collection of works contributed by the MARS community. Proceeds from artwork sales will support the work of Living Positive Victoria. \nAlongside the exhibition\, artist Emil Canita will showcase their polaroid series curated in accompaniment to LPV’s resource Let Them Know: Why and How to Share Your HIV Story\, supported by ViiV Healthcare. \nLet Them Know was developed in response to a long-standing gap in how HIV disclosure is supported in Australia and globally. The project grew from peer-led HIV disclosure workshops that began during COVID-19\, a period marked by heightened isolation and uncertainty. \nPhotographed in domestic\, intimate\, and everyday settings\, the images centre moments of closeness\, trust\, and vulnerability rather than disclosure as a singular event. The people featured come from diverse cultural backgrounds and life experiences\, reflecting the multicultural reality of people living with HIV in Australia today. Each image is paired with a verbatim quote drawn from the participant’s own story. Rather than attempting to explain a life in full\, these fragments function as gestures of recognition\, curiosity\, and care. \nDeveloped by and for people living with HIV\, Let Them Know is a national campaign featuring voices from across Australia and across the serodivide. It reframes HIV disclosure not as something driven by fear or obligation\, but as a gift. Knowing someone’s HIV status is a privilege. The works presented form part of a national poster campaign distributed through clinics and community organisations across Australia. \nFunds raised through Polaroid Polaroid Polaroid will help support LPV’s peer-led programs\, community activities\, and services that reduce isolation and strengthen connection for people living with HIV across Victoria.

SUMMARY:Positive Latin Americans Victoria: End-of-year Picnic
DESCRIPTION:Food and conversation have always been at the heart of PLAV gatherings. Over the past year\, we’ve shared meals\, stories\, and laughter — creating spaces where Latin Americans living with HIV can feel connected and supported. To close the year\, we’re continuing that tradition outdoors with a relaxed picnic at Fitzroy Gardens. It’s a chance to slow down\, enjoy the sun\, and celebrate everything we’ve built together. \nThis picnic will be on the same day as Planet Positive at The Laird\, so if you’re attending that\, we can walk together to the gardens for one last event in the fresh air. Whether you’ve joined us before or this will be your first time\, this is a gentle\, friendly space. Come as you are\, bring what makes you comfortable\, and settle into an easy afternoon of conversation and connection. \nWe’d love to know you’re coming so we can hold the right number of seats and make everyone comfortable — please take a moment to register when you can. \nIf anything would make attending easier\, Carles is here for you. Feel free to reach out and they’ll do their best to support you in whatever way you need to 0493 058 529 or caraya@lpv.org.au.
