There’s always a new way to look at things.”\n“I wasn’t sure I needed something like this\, but I’m so glad I came.”\n“Best thing I’ve done since being diagnosed.”\n“I felt valued and accepted — an excellent team.”\n“Talking openly helped me realise I’m not alone.”\n“I wish I knew about Phoenix when I was diagnosed.” \nIf you would like more information or want to register\, please email info@lpv.org.au \nWe look forward to welcoming you.

SUMMARY:2026 International AIDS Candlelight Memorial: Save the Date
DESCRIPTION:Peer Magic: The Power of Connection\, Care and Lived Experience \n2026 marks 41 years since the first International AIDS Candlelight Memorial was held in Melbourne. This year we recognise the vital role of peers in the response to HIV and AIDS with the theme Peer Magic: The Power of Connection\, Care and Lived Experience. \nJoin us as we gather in community to share stories\, reflect\, and commemorate the friends\, family and lovers we have lost to AIDS over the decades. Together we honour the enduring strength of peer support and the people who continue to shape a more compassionate and informed future for those living with HIV. \nAs we light candles in remembrance\, we also look forward. The memorial is a time to acknowledge the power of connection\, care and lived experience\, and to reaffirm our commitment to building a better world for all peers living with HIV. \nThe evening will feature a panel discussion on the power of peer connection\, alongside reflections from community speakers including Susan Paxton\, Adam Ehm and LPV CEO Richard Keane. \nMusic from the Low Rez Melbourne Male Choir will be woven throughout the program\, leading into a candle lighting moment to honour those we have lost and celebrate their lives.

SUMMARY:Positive Latin Americans Victoria: Ecuadorian Lunch
DESCRIPTION:Food has always been one of the easiest ways for PLAV to bring people together. In past gatherings we’ve shared Colombian and Mexican flavours\, used a shared table to slow down\, meet new people\, and swap stories about life in Melbourne. This time\, we’re continuing that tradition with Ecuadorian cuisine\, a relaxed lunch designed for Latin Americans living with HIV to reconnect\, welcome an early spring\, and enjoy good company without any pressure to perform or share more than you want to. \nWhether you’ve been to many PLAV events or you’re thinking of attending for the first time\, this lunch is a gentle\, friendly space. Come as you are\, speak the language that feels most comfortable and settle into an easy afternoon of conversation and flavour. \nWe’d love to know you’re coming so we can hold the right number of seats and make everyone comfortable\, please take a moment to register. \nIf anything would make attending easier\, Carles is here for you\, feel free to reach out and they’ll do their best to support you in whatever way you need 0493 058 529 caraya@lpv.org.au.
