SUMMARY:HIV Long-Term Survivors Awareness Day 2026
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate HIV Long-Term Survivors Awareness Day with us at this special dinner event. Join us in honouring the resilience and contributions of long-term survivors and people living with HIV. \nIf you are aged 50 years and over\, and living with HIV\, or a long-term survivor of HIV (more than 25 years)\, come join us for dinner on HIV Long-Term Survivors Awareness Day. Celebrate the resilience\, hope and optimism of long-term survivors and people living with HIV. Hear their stories of change and challenges\, and honour their past contributions at this special event. Be entertained by community members who will be sharing their artistic talent.  Carers and partners of people living with HIV are welcome. \nHIV Long-Term Survivors Awareness Day marks the anniversary of the first official reporting of what became known as the AIDS epidemic on 5 June 1981 by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. HIV Long-Term Survivors are a diverse group of people\, including those diagnosed with HIV before the advent of Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART) in 1996. \nThis event is proudly presented by Living Positive Victoria\, Thorne Harbour Health and Positive Women Victoria. For more information\, contact Gerry O’Brien at gerry.obrien@thorneharbour.org\, Heather Ellis at comms@positivewomen.org.au or James Seow at jseow@lpv.org.au.
